A bold, colorful palette was utilized in
this master bedroom re-design to encourage the disabled occupant to heal
faster. Her personality is extraverted, so the colors chosen were
vibrant. We elected to use red as the primary color in this
complementary color scheme of red and muted greens. As accent colors, we
chose soft blue and a "dab" of orange. With a limited budget to work
with, we blended the old with the new harmoniously, keeping the oak claw
foot dresser, mission oak desk, and striped wing chair, and adding only
a settee at the foot of the bed along with a crisp, modern red leather
ottoman as a "surprise" element in the room, and placing a new area rug
under to protect the hardwood flooring. New throw pillows, lamps, and
artwork added the final details. New furnishings from Pier One Imports
via our designer discount program. New chandelier, plant arrangement,
and accent pieces from
Lamps Plus Professionals.
Two Custom Yet Different Residential Installations...
10 ft. ceilings and a 2 ft. fur down over the
tub platform created a sense of romance in the large scale bathroom on
the right. Double French doors lead out to the master bedroom. A
skylight (not shown) allows light into this very private space. Custom
tile patterns create interest.
The owners of this master bath (right) wanted
more privacy and color. Two pedestal sinks occupy the near end, with
Jacuzzi tub enclosed in a mosaic tile surround. A private water closet
follows at the far end.
This kitchen was created using a semi-custom cabinet line. By
staggering cabinet heights, adding galley rails and built in kitchen
desk and bookshelves helped to create a more custom look at a stock
price. Not visible is the island bar in this open kitchen plan. 10 ft.
ceilings serve to visually enlarge the space.
A bit more country was preferred here. The cabinetry
was site built, using accents of beadboard and smaller 2 in. counter tiles. White beadboard
was utilized as wainscot in the breakfast area. A copper light
compliments the wall color and cabinetry.
In stark contrast to the foyer on the right, this
entrance displays a certain refined yet subdued elegance and symmetry.
Etched glass doors and shining marble flooring are the highlights of
this home’s approach to the living area. Recessed shelving provides
space for objects de art.
A big, bold soaring entrance with custom stained
glass sidelights and transom window shows off the local art preferences
of this owner in this foyer. An insert of tiles set on the diagonal (not
shown) create an even more dramatic entrance
